Riverside County Park is adjacent to the Passaic River, entirely within a flood hazard zone. To reduce flooding impacts in the event of a storm surge, the landscape architects were part of the team that sited the new restroom and amphitheater building at a higher elevation. Accessible meandering paths take all patrons through lush, dense plantings into the amphitheater. Visitors with mobility issues have the option to sit front row inside seating nooks or nearly three feet above that, in the central terrace among the rest of the crowd.
