The project scope involved complete renovation of two obsolete open spaces – Robinson Green and Wilson Plaza – on Rowan University’s main campus in Glassboro. Though surrounded by
academic buildings, a gymnasium, and a performing arts center, these two quads prioritized
vehicular circulation and parking right up to the buildings. The Landscape Architect developed a
cohesive vision that dramatically transformed 3.4 acres into a multi-purpose, pedestrian
focused, social, and educational hub for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Through sensitively
scaled, flexible gathering spaces, green stormwater infrastructure and myriad amenities, this
project serves as a model for sustainable retrofit of underutilized campus landscapes into
beautiful, high-performance places for people, plants and animals.
