Project Description
This master’s thesis project, Sunnyside Pocket Park, transforms the existing non-ADA compliant All Saints Church courtyard into a flexible, universally accessible urban green space that is inclusive for people of all age ranges and abilities. By working directly with the Western Queens Community Land Trust and receiving community input, the overall design prioritizes the wants and needs of Sunnyside residents. The proposed semi-public pocket park incorporates year-round greenery and spaces for performances, community events, reading, and relaxation to enhance the neighborhood’s social, mental, and environmental well-being.
