Project Description
Astoria Heights Playground, adjacent to Middle School I.S. 10, Queens, New York, is a 2.2 acres NYC Park surrounded by dense, low-‐rise and single family housing.
This $5 million dollar project is part of the City Park’s Commissioner’s Community Parks Initiative and Parks Without Borders programs. Project site, which had been neglected for over 20 years and lacked parks programming and staffing, as well as accessibility, presented many challenges. Careful consideration was made to promote safety, security, enhance the environment, and provide enjoyment for all user groups.
