Project Description
Highbridge Park Adventure Playground is located in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, near W. 164th Street & Edgecombe Avenue. The new Adventure Playground project responds to community desires for an updated play area. A sense of adventure is reintroduced to the play space by bringing in tensile climbing elements and high-level platform equipment, a new synthetic turf playfield with mounds, and a splash pad area. Existing trees have been preserved and a primarily native new plant palette has been employed throughout the playground. The planting beds reduce the amount of impermeability on site and capture some portion of surface stormwater run-off.
