Graduating from Rutgers University in 2017 with her bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, and receiving her master’s degree in wildlife and fisheries resources from Clemson University in 2022, Maxine has gone on to further her professional career by becoming an ISA Certified Arborist (NJ-1325A) with a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification and a New Jersey Licensed Tree Expert (LTE-720). These certifications, combined with her seven years of experience in the horticulture industry as a horticulturist, IPM coordinator, and plant recorder before coming to Rutgers, have given her an arsenal of skills that helps her successfully oversee the gardens. She leads the Horticulture and Landscape Management internship track at Rutgers Gardens and regularly engages with the public through events, programs, and volunteer opportunities at Rutgers Gardens. Maxine also contributes to the effective care and management of SEBS teaching and demonstration gardens on the core of Cook Campus, providing hands-on learning opportunities for students.
