Project Description

The Randall’s Island Connector, from the South Bronx to Randall’s Island, links residents to 330 acres of sports fields across the Bronx Kill strait. This 1/4 mile link, which lies underneath a railroad trestle, makes active recreation accessible to thousands of residents in underserved neighborhoods through strategic repurposing of industrial infrastructure.

Randall’s Island Connector is an outgrowth of the firm’s South Bronx Greenway Master Plan. The landscape architect led team defined the Greenway’s route by working closely with city agencies and local community-based partners. The actively used RIC demonstrates that community and industry can coexist through careful planning and design.
